Here's the perfect place to learn the beauties of meat slow-roasted over a spit. The Beef Tikka Kebab has chunks of marinated beef while the Lamb Kofta Kebab uses ground lamb with herbs. Both are ingeniously spiced to set your palate aglow without burning it. Served with the kebabs are fragrant brown basmati rice, thick ribbed Afghan bread, and salad with a creamy dressing. There are fish and vegetarian choices including Sabsi Palow, made with fresh spinach. There are several Manhattan locations but the Queens outpost, decorated in rust and earthtones, is prettiest.
