Visa, MCYou won't find Indonesia's subtle and distinctive combinations of spices in other Asian-Pacific cuisines. Best value is the Thali platter with soup or salad, Bali beef, an amazing chicken sate, snapper with lemongrass and chili pepper, an enormous stuffed fried shrimp, curry vegetables, and jasmine rice—with your choice of wine, beer, or soda. There's also a vegetarian version. You even get dessert in the form of a fried banana crepe with vanilla ice cream and palm sugar sauce. We also liked the tiny cinnamon layer cakes with ice cream. And if you're ridiculously hungry—or eager to explore—try the even bigger Rijsttafel platter. The place itself is tranquil and pleasant except during the early dinnertime hours when the theater crowd pushes in. Come during the afternoon and eat your way through the affordable and attractive selection of lunch specials.
