Visa, MCThe Indian buffets of Jackson Heights—an Asian, Latin, and white enclave in Queens—are worth the trip out of Manhattan. Take the 7 from Times Square which provides better Manhattan skyline views than you'd ever find in Manhattan itself. Your first view of the nabe will be grim—the pigeon-spattered elevated tracks under Roosevelt Avenue—but once you get to the Delhi Palace you can load your plate with chicken, goat, and vegetarian dishes. On a typical weekend the entrees number about ten. The Palace also offers a generous array of appetizers, sauces, spicy pickled vegetables, and even a sweet dairy-based dessert. Pile the plate as high as you like. The buffet is self-serve, but do leave a dollar for the busboy who fills your water glass and clears the table.
