This 1892-vintage Little Italy institution is a feast for the eye as much as the gut. Ogle the definitive array of colorful treats within the long glass pastry counter as you enter. Then head upstairs to the spacious dining room for some serious overindulgence. The chocolate truffle cake, nicknamed "Death by Chocolate," will have your mouth singing chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate! The coffee is good—even the decaf has some flavor—but we preferred to accompany our sugar and fat intake with an Italian egg cream which substitutes chocolate gelato for chocolate syrup. Light meals are also available including sandwiches on fresh focaccia bread and a light and lovely manicotti with ground veal and ricotta cheese.
