Vaulted arches overhead make the Oyster Bar New York’s most visually dramatic restaurant. Even if you're not taking a Metro North train, it's worth a visit—especially if you love seafood. There's a counter for quick bites, a saloon for carousing, and a dining room for serious eating. The menu, rewritten daily, is an epic embracing dozens of appetizers, catches of the day, and Raw Bar items which are ordered per piece. For starters try the fried clams which are served on an elaborately folded napkin. The Foursome of Seafood Salads will give you a good overview with lump-crab and romaine salad, jumbo shrimp, salmon, and squid served in a hollowed bell pepper. But the hippest approach is to order one of everything on the Raw Bar menu and wash it down with a few of the well-chosen draft or bottled beers.
