New York's best veggie burger keeps us coming back to this affordable health-food oasis in midtown. It doesn't conceal its contents—bristling as it is with peas, carrots, corn, kidney beans, and other stuff—and comes topped with Muenster cheese. Toss a few dollops of the truly tasty tofu-carrot dressing on the accompanying side salad. The Health Bar's giant salads are winners, including the avocado-laced taco salad (in giant shell) and the apple- and raisin-sweetened carrot salad, with cottage cheese or yogurt. Slim shakes include the Health Bar Special with fresh fruit (we could taste the strawberries), skim milk, and frozen yogurt. Also available are sandwiches, wraps, quesadillas, pizzas, fish of the day—and if you're tired of being good, cheesecake and other treats.
