High-end American cuisine at moderate prices is the strength of this airy and beautiful place, easily the best restaurant in the West 100s, and one of our favorites, period. Take your dates, parents, or friends to this stately pre-World War II building—and admire the ironwork and marble of the lobby around the corner on West 105th Street before you enter. Steak, ribs, lamb, and chicken entrees are reliable though there's also a selection of fish and pasta dishes. Several fish-based appetizers include one of the city's best fried calamaris along with good soups and beautiful salads. We like the wheat beer (on tap) though there's also a decent wine list. Don't skip dessert. Though Henry's menu has evolved over time, it's maintained an admirable consistency. We visit regularly and it's always like coming home.
