First, the orgasm. That's the one Meg Ryan faked in front of a gaping Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally—filmed at the venerable Katz's, established 1888, on the Lower East Side. Overstuffed sandwiches make Katz's worth a pilgrimage for deli addicts. They include a substantial pastrami (with a little more fat and flavor than you'd get elsewhere), corned beef, brisket, and fine frankfurters and knockwurst in natural casings. Your vegetarian friends—actually, these are tough environs for vegetarians—might like the potato knishes, barley kashes, fries, and free 'kraut. Grab a tray, brave the crowds, get your food, find a table—easy to do in such a huge place—and enjoy the period decor, untouched for decades, and the WWII-era sign that says (with NY accent, please) "send a salami to your boy in the army."
