Visa, MCLittle Poland caters to big appetites with Eastern European favorites. The indisputable bargain is the combo platter with four of the giant dumplings known as pierogis, a stuffed cabbage, a hunk of kielbasa sausage, and bigos, which is sauerkraut with meat. The stuffed cabbage is surprisingly light and slightly sweet and can be ordered one at a time as a side order. Pierogis come in cheese, meat, potato, kasha (grain), sauerkraut-mushroom, spinach, and sweet potato—why not take a dozen home? Potato pancakes are substantial but tender, possibly due to egg content. Blintzes, with cheese or fruit filling, are a crepe-like delight. Also on the menu are homemade soups, beef goulash or stroganoff, lamb stew, veal, pork, seafood, cold salad platters, and breakfasts including buckwheat or buttermilk pancakes. Here's comfort food at its most comfortable.
