Visa, MC, AmEx, Discover, DCThis traditional Greek eatery combines a large and ambitious menu with a high level of execution. Niko's leans to the traditional Greek (as opposed to Greek-American) side. We often drop by for lunch for the souvlaki sandwich platters—swordfish, lamb, or veg—which come with shoestring fries and a few strikingly unusual veg garnishes. When dining with friends, however, we prefer to start instead with the thin-crust pizzas—they make excellent appetizers—and then go on to the souvlakis, kebabs, burgers (lamb, turkey, salmon) or our favorite, the Middle Eastern Sextet which includes falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, tomato salad, cucumbers, and tabouli. The most pleasant tables, with a fair amount of natural light, are the ones on the restaurant's West 76th Street side. Service is good enough to remark upon.
