A plastic tree trunk at the corner of Lex and 103rd, near the entrance to the 6 train, marks the location of this Mexican eatery. We showed up hungry, and after briefly admiring the warmly inviting decor, filled our tree-stump table with food. Tacos come in a tortilla that can be folded over and picked up without breaking apart; the spicy beef filling we chose went down with a lovely slow burn. Enchiladas, which are ordered in triplicate, are soft and tasty and the chicken variety worked for us. We also had a huarache with diced pork. Like the burrito, it's a large item that comes singly, but the waitress was kind enough to divide it and deposit half on each of our plates. The red sauce is mild, and the green for more adventurous palates. To wash it down try some horchata, a rice-milk beverage that's sweet but not cloying. Pricing is affordable and return visits mandatory.
