The students and faculty of Columbia, a block to the north, shouldn't be allowed to keep this oasis of traditional Greek cuisine to themselves. Paintings cover the walls, ceiling, and even the lightbulbs and the handwritten menu is a minor masterpiece in itself. The Potpourri platter includes pastitsio (Greek lasagna), spanakopita (spinach pie), moussaka (eggplant casserole), sliced roast lamb, and yummy meatballs. For meatless eaters there's the Mixed Appetizers platter (small or large) with tzatziki, lovely yogurt, cuke, and garlic dip; ably accompanied by pink fish roe and potato/garlic dips, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives—plus a mountain of pita. The menu also includes the usual skewered meat, plenty of fish, and pasta (including Spaghetti a la Greco with butter and feta). Sangria is ruby red with wine, fruit, and not too much sugar.
