Umberto's is worthwhile if you know what you're looking for. If you're sensible, the first thing you'll look for is clams. The choices are Littleneck (small) and Cherrystone (large), raw or baked. Our advice: Get the Cherrystones, raw, and fill your mouth with the delicate taste of the sea. The enormous fisherman's platter is served cold or fried (lightly, not heavily fried). For lighter appetites, try a simple fish filet, especially the flounder. For the best value, get one of the platters with biscuits. These include shrimp balls, fried shrimp, mussels, or calimari. Have a side order of pasta with one of three sauces: mild, medium, or hot.
